The HOPE School by Anubhuti Foundation has transformed the lives of over one million children in Jalalabad village. Anubhuti, a not-for-profit organization, focuses on empowering individuals in rural, urban slum, and educationally backward regions by mobilizing communities and supporting sustainable livelihoods. Designed to serve children in and around Jalalabad, the school also provides facilities for women from nearby villages. Constructed using on-site Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB), the school emphasizes sustainability and climate responsiveness. Its central courtyard functions as both an amphitheater and a rainwater harvesting system, reminiscent of a traditional stepwell. CSEB blocks are used for walls and jalis, offering protection from the harsh sun. Bamboo windows and doors, along with north-facing classrooms, ensure natural light and ventilation. Each classroom opens to a terrace or covered verandah, creating vital in-between spaces that protect against sun and rain, while fostering interaction and dialogue among students in a vibrant, open learning environment.
