ClientsSACHIN MEHRA
Mehra House located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, is a residence designed for a three-generation family. Set on a compact 480-square-yard plot, the home features a dark grey stone crete plaster exterior and a layout that unfolds gradually within. Along with private bedrooms, living and dining areas, and a home office, the design includes a dedicated chanting room to reflect the family’s interest in meditation and Buddhist practices. The interiors are characterized by wooden elements, white walls, and ample natural light, creating calm, contemplative spaces at various levels. Due to the site’s linear form and limited open views on the longer sides, the design stacks and staggers volumes to maximize access to light and airflow. The entry at the lower ground level leads into interconnected spaces that are visually linked across levels. Rather than a single staircase core, a series of transitions forms an internal verandah that guides movement through the house.
